I'm Gainfully Employed!

So today was the first day at my new job.   I'm genuinely surprised at how friendly everyone in the office was ... and what a nice place it is.  It was a long, arduous day.  I'm not sure how much of that was the lack of sleep ... or nerves ... or not eating anything for the first six hours of the day.

It's a weird feeling.   There are a lot of steps ... a lot of i's to dot and a lot of t's to cross.   I'm not sure if it's just because I was so tired but it was hard work.  And not just hard work ... a full day.

If I'm being honest, I think it's a shock because I haven't had to put in a full's days work for so long.  Little by little, as things closed down at my old job, there was less and less to do.  I probably could've finished everything I had to do in a day in a couple hours ... or less.  It wasn't just me.  We all stretched things out to make the work last.  But that won't be the case here ...

From the moment my training started until the time I left, I was working.  Oh, I'm not complaining ... it's actually a good feeling.  And I think I can pick it up pretty fast ...

So, I'm going to bed early.  I need to try to get some sleep and get caught up from last night.  But it was a nice day.  So far I like my new office ... hopefully it's the start of something great!

Workin' For A Livin'

Note:  Last night's concert was awesome. I'm too tired to write much about it now. I'll try to put up a post tomorrow about Jason Isbell and the great show he put on.  But for now, a quick thank you to Stoney for inviting me to go to Bloomington with him ... and for driving ... and for his patience with my inability to pick a convenient restaurant ... and for being such great company ... and for making sure I was awake this morning for work.  There aren't enough thank yous ...

  1. Was his wife Amanda Shires playing fiddle with him last night? I'm a huge fan of hers. And she's so cute.

  2. Sorry I didn't answer earlier ... I had to check with the expert. haha :) There was a beautiful woman on stage with him last night ... but I didn't know who she was. I know he introduced her more than once but the name escaped me. Anyhow ... Stoney says yes ... yes, that was Amanda Shires on the fiddle. It was a nice touch to the songs ... I loved the concert so much. I wish I would've gotten to see him when he was with DBT ... I bet they were epic.
