The Waiting Starts Again ...

Well, I haven't interviewed for a position outside the federal government in a long time.  And in all this time, I guess applying for a job has become a lot more involved.

Back in the old days, you went in for an interview ... you interviewed ... and you either got the job or you didn't.   So far, I had a telephone interview, a face-to-face interview, and if I did a good job, I get to go back for a second face-to-face interview.

I don't know if it's the economy or the job situation?  Maybe there are so many people applying for jobs these days that they can afford to be pickier.  Maybe this is the new normal ... and everyone has to jump through several hoops in order to get hired.  I don't know ...

But hopefully I'll find out next week.  If I get chosen to come back again, I'll meet with two different managers and I'll "job shadow" a couple people in different departments to see which area fits me best.  Keep your fingers crossed.  I think I did good ...

  1. It is insane. I got my current job after 12 years at my former job, and I had to endure 2 telephone interviews, an informal lunch with my manager and another manager, a 2 hour group interview where I met with 8 people (in groups of 2 or 3) who I'd work closely with, and another interview where I met with HR, my manager, and a VP. Good luck you you!

  2. HOLY CRAP! Okay ... I thought what I was going through was daunting ... but the group interview thing? Wow! You have my respect!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed ... if I've been chosen to go to the next stage, I find out next week. I really want this job. I think I'll cross my toes too JUST in case it helps!
