Two Birds With One Stone ...

The Black Knight has a written a post which he proposes a solution to the overcrowding of our prison system:

I say send the prisoners that fill our state and federal prisons to Iraq and give our soldiers a break. By the time their numbers start to seriously dwindle, our soldiers would be rested and we would have some new bozo (I mean president) in charge who will know how to fight a war.

Well, that's a great thought, Knight ... but I've got another suggestion.

Americans want immigration reform? I'll give them immigration form. Write a law that says something along these lines.

Illegal aliens can walk into any recruiters office in the United States and sign up for one of the branches of armed services. They sign up for a two year tour of duty ... or three ... hey, whatever works for you guys. And, after finishing that tour of duty, they are automatically citizens.

I'm not saying we should use them as targets or decoys ... I'm saying we make them actual soldiers. They'll work beside our men and women ... run the same patrols ... be given the same responsibilities as any other recruit.

You want to be an American? Prove it.

In the navy
Can't you see we need a hand
In the navy
Come on, protect the motherland
In the navy
Come on and join your fellow man
In the navy
Come on people, and make a stand
In the navy
In the navy
They want you
They want you
They want you as a new recruit

Update: How bizzare. I got to thinking this whole thing sounded familiar. So, I looked around and found this post which was done at almost the exact same time last year. I even quoted the same song. I really am getting old. I'm starting to repeat myself ...

No, you getting old aint sad, what's sad is that its a year (and longer) and we still have the same unsolved issues that lead to similar blog posts.
